The objective of the Sacred Nature Initiative is to inspire and educate members on the wonders of the natural world and to support conservation of critical natural habitats. The SNI aims to achieve this by increasing appreciation, understanding and actions that help preserve the natural world for future generations. In an effort to maximise efforts of the Sacred Nature Initiative, the area of conservation focus will vary throughout the year. The SNI board will periodically select a new spotlight, which represents a new ecosystem that is in dire need of conservation solutions. The flagship spotlight for the Sacred Nature Initiative is the Mara-Serengeti ecosystem.

Current main Spotlight:
Mara-Serengeti ecosystem

The Sacred Nature Initiative has chosen the Mara-Serengeti ecosystem as the flagship spotlight for our conservation efforts. Co-founders Jonathan and Angela Scott have spent the past 40+ years observing this sacred place. The Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, together with the Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya, are the last places on Earth where you can still see a semblance of animal life as it existed before our ancestors first stepped out into the grasslands. Sadly, drought, famine, disease and the resultant loss of life—at times on a catastrophic scale—are universal themes in the Mara-Serengeti. In an effort to improve the health and longevity of this vital ecosystem, the SNI aims to focus on the following initiatives:

Mara Predator Conservation Programme (MPCP)

ADCAM Mara Vision Project

The Frankfurt Zoological Society (FZS)

Ecosystems are at the heart of the Natural World

Explore the six fundimental ecosystems below to understand a little more about them and how we can help make a difference in their survival.
